This past weekend, two of our partner clubs took to the pitch to compete for the inaugural Utilita Cup. Eastleigh FC hosted Whitehawk FC in a behind-closed-doors contest at the Silverlake Stadium (which is powered by Utilita) – with Whitehawk walking away with the trophy after a hard-fought 2-1 win.
With fans not able to attend, the match was streamed live across YouTube with fans encouraged to donate the £5 matchday fee to the Prince’s Trust instead with over £1500 in total being raised across the weekend to help improve the lives of vulnerable children across the UK.
Our Head of Marketing Strategy, Matt McHugh, said:
“I’m delighted that the first edition of The Utilita Cup was such a success. It’s a shame that fans couldn’t attend, but the fact that they still supported the cause to the extent that they did, is amazing.
“It was great to see Eastleigh, our first football partner club, take on Whitehawk, who are one of our newest partners, in what was a really entertaining game. My thanks go out to Eastleigh for hosting – and I’m sure they will want to get their own back next year!”
You can still donate to the Prince’s Trust via The Utilita Cup page here.
